Calling Gyms! Row 125km to Unite Against Suicide

Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45. And a staggering 125 people lose their lives to suicide every week in the UK – 75% of them men.

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) exists to change this.

This November, I’ll set out from La Gomera Spain with three mates to row the 3,000 miles to Antigua across the Atlantic Ocean in the hopes of raising £250,000 to support CALM’s life-saving work. It’s a bold target, and one we won’t be able to achieve alone.

So from the 9th-16th October, we want to get as many people as possible involved in raising money and awareness of this critical issue. We provide everything you need, from a Just Giving page to detailed instructions and premade social media assets for you to share with your members and wider network.

This is our chance to support a life-saving cause – and host a community-based event for your members at the same time.

How to get involved

  1. MAKE A PLAN
    • Get a team of up to ten people together
    • Choose a date between 9th and 16th of October
    • Book a rowing machine – your team will share one machine
  1. CREATE AND PROMOTE YOUR 125KM ROW FUNDRAISING PAGE:
  2. GET TRAINING
  3. ROW!
    • Set your rowing machine to count down from 125km
      • Use one rowing machine per challenge. Your team members can swap on and off whenever you like – like a relay.
    • Enter your total time taken to the CALM leaderboard
      • E.g. if you start at 8.00 and finish at 17.56, your time is 10hrs 56 mins
